Post problems (and hopefully fixes) here.

Curious, what does the “share” function do when you see it in someone elses play list? I can’t seem to find a description anywhere on the site.

Avatar Mr. Admin 323 posts

Sassy, The share function puts that playlist into your playlists tab with a heart next to it (indicating that it is shared). When you select that playlist you can play it, or click the link back to the person who created it (appears at the top of the list). The cool thing about sharing playlists is that when the owner of the playlist change the songs in that playlist, they change for you too – so you can sort of “subscribe” to other peoples taste if they change their playlits frequently. Its a great way to keep your friends on the site updated on what music you have found that they might like. Just create a playlist called “Sassy’s picks” or something and have your friends share it. Then keep it updated and they will always have your recommendations just a “play” button away! Of course, you can change the order of a the songs in a playlist by dragging and dropping them up or down the list.

serena, we have seen some issues with Internet Explorer 7 for Windows. We are working on solving those. If you cannot make it work, shoot an email to Neal and he will set you right up. nmoody@reverbnation.com

Ah, ok, thanks. I think I got it. Another question though: How many pictures/songs can my band put up?

Avatar Mr. Admin 323 posts

SERENA!

Right now you can put up 100 songs on ReverbNation and about 15 pictures! If you end up needed more space than that, let Neal know!

heyas… bug? i prefer to search by using the ‘most recent’ sort feature, but as soon as i click onto page 2 it reverts back to ‘relevance’.

thx also for adding more picture space :)

Avatar Mr. Admin 323 posts

Rawrly, Thanks for the defect report! We’ll get someone on that and have it fixed in the next release.

Hey Mr Admin! Just a small question, how do you become a featured artist?

Avatar Mr. Admin 323 posts

Just send an email to featuredartist@reverbnation.com and let us know why you should be on the front page!

”...i prefer to search by using the ‘most recent’ sort feature, but as soon as i click onto page 2 it reverts back to ‘relevance’…”

thanks for fix! :D

RAWRLY-

Yep, That’s a bug! Thanks for the heads up, we should have it fixed by next release!

Is there a way to switch out the profile picture with other pics in the gallery (without having to re-upload the pic and check the “make default” box)?

Avatar Mr. Admin 323 posts

BENNYSTRANGE

Excellent suggestion. Right now, I’m afraid you have to reupload, but no worries, that is an excellent idea we have already talked about and we will try to make that happen sometime in the near future!

My stats on my recently played songs are less than half what it was a couple days ago. I spent the whole day at work listening to my favorite band’s songs to boost their SXSW points. Only to find that all those points were gone the following day. Also, after a while, the songs I was listening to would cut this annoying voice saying that the song/file was no longer there (or something like that). I think your system’s a little buggy. Please fix, so I can continue supporting the band and the music I enjoy.

Toxic, Thanks for the question. We had to make some changes to how song plays were counted b/c we had some “automated” playing going on. In one case, we had a fan that “played” a song over 40,000 times in a very short time frame. It would not be fair to the other bands in the competition to allow such an obvious abberation to be counted. As a result, we have installed a new algorithm for determining what constitutes a play that “counts”. Let me be very clear here – if you are truly listening to an artist you love all day long, all of those plays will be counted. If a robot is simply playing portions of songs over and over, we will detect it and roll back the play count. We have written the rules so as not to punish real plays.

We are doing everything we can to keep the competition abosultely fair. SXSW is a huge opportunity for the artists trying to get there, and we owe it to them to run a fair competition. So, we apply the rules fairly to everyone.

It sounds like you feel that your real plays are not being counted correctly. You may be right. We may have to tweak the algorithm if you can help us understand exactly what is going on. Please send an email to sxsw@reverbnation.com and tell us exactly what’s up. We’d love to know because it is absolutely our intention to count all legitimate plays.

i want to get the gig listings widget for myspace.

when i grab the code, instead of saying “timmy ray” for the name, it says artist name.

i’ve filled in all the forms that ask me for my name, so why’s this happening??

Avatar Mr. Admin 323 posts

TIMMY RAY

Small bug in the code that you grabbed. It’s all fixed now and has automatically updated your widget. I’ve already checked your MySpace page for it, it’s lookin’ great!

Hey Mr. Admin, y’all.

1. Now that the SXSW contest is over, and based on prior experience… might I suggest that the # of counted plays (for future contest purposes, perhaps) limit plays to 1 play per song, per system, per day? Plus, then the guys who have more bandwidth, or say, more reliable connections, won’t annihilate the people who have dodgy connections or limited ability to keep their pc’s connected and cranking away all day long. (I bet that would save you guys some $, too). Assuming that in the future you’ll have another contest with similar qualifying rules, of course.

2. I think my player cranked a few plays backwards this morning. Just a couple… dunno why. Around 8:45 a.m. CST. Fyi.

3. How the heck do you actually delete trash in your Reverbnation mailbox? I see now that you can archive, or trash mails, but no “empty”.

4. Maybe a new graphical widgets that make it easier for people to go directly to the ‘become a fan’ page? (And make it so they can automatically ‘become a fan’ without needing to do more than click the link in their confirmation email).

Thanks!!

Avatar edison carter 5 posts

oops. I posted some suggestions in the wrong place. Sorry ‘bout that.

Avatar Mr. Admin 323 posts

Edison, The ‘empty trash” function is in the works, so never fear.

We have had some more feedback on the contest and I will add this to the list. We are designing the next contest now, so your timing is perfect.

We currently do have an algorithm in place that attepmts to count only real plays by human beings. This was in place during the contest and we are going to continue to improve it based on feedback.

Graphical widget is a good idea. I will discuss it internally. Thanks Edison!

I love the show widget idea and have set it up to work on my website. However the widget is not allowing me to add another show :( I put in all the required info and hit add but nothing happens. I was able to put in one new show but have 20 others to add. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a better web browser to use when operating the site? I’d really like to get the widget working so I can just put in my show info in one place. Thanks!

PDUB-

Hey! Sorry you are having trouble. Have you tried clearing your cache (deleting temp. internet files and cookies, and then restarting the browser)? You may want to try that, or try using another browser if you have one. If niether one of those works, send an email to Neal at nmoody@reverbnation.com with your Artist name and the browser and browser version you are using and he will try to get you square!
