The </form><form> trick DOES work for messages too, but it comes out a little funny. Apparently MySpace strips out all of the DIVs and puts a bunch of periods in instead. What I do to send the Fan Collector in a MySpace message is this:

1. start with </form>
2. from the code that ReverbNation generates, use everything but the DIV tags—so, take out everything that has <div> or </div> in it. The only really important part is the form in the middle of the ReverbNation code. By taking out the DIVs, you’ll lose the styling and formatting, but it still looks decent.
3. end with <form>

It works for me! You can also put whatever you want above the form. It defaults to “Join the mailing list” and the name of your band, but you can easily customize it.

the mp3s at reverbnation definitely sound better than at myspace. the listening experience overall is about 4000 times better. now, if only every band at myspace would also set up a reverbnation page. i hate going to myspace now.
