Topic: Suggestion Box

I believe having the ability to have certain tracks up on our general web page would be a nice addition, instead of having each and every track we have uploaded visible to everyone or being able to assign a playlist as our main music player. Like if you went to my page reverbnation.com/nepharius I have a list of about 25 songs but I’d rather have about 3 only visible. I use the other tracks for specific discography > album information pages on my main website.

Thanks

If you have the html code for the store, you can click the Edit button on your General tab and paste the code there. Remember to hit the Source button before pasting the code or it likely won’t work.

Topic: Suggestion Box

I’ve been reading the suggestions mentioned by RN artist in regards to reaching their fans and I agree with just about everything that has been said. I have an artist signed up on RN and I must say for me, coming from a management standpoint, RN has the best tools out there and I utilize them to plan marketing strats, reach fans, etc., etc. BUT, I do have an observation.

My artist is on MySpace, Bebo, Facebook, Indie Charts, and ReverbN, however, his greatest communications are coming from MySpace. He has the RN Banner, the Exclusive Music Banner, and Fan Signup Banner on his page. We also utlize the RN widgets exclusively for gaining more fans.

The problem I’m running into is that most of our fans do not want to have to sign up on another site just to take advantage of free music or support an up and coming artist when they can do so on Myspace. I would like to sign up fans without having to “sign-up” fans on RN which many do not want to do yet I want to be able to manage his stats from RN. I know that sounds crazy, but if I could “wave a magic wand” I would combine the drawing power of myspace with the complete “management” power of Reverb.

ADD SHOWS Suggestion:

It would be great (& feasible) to have the option to add repeating events when adding a show. Repeating event(s) coupled with a date span sort of feature. For instance, I have a set of upcoming shows that should run weekly for 8 weeks on Tuesday and Wednesday. Right now, only one date can be chosen when adding a show.

Same topic: It would be sooooooooo great not to have to option to REMOVE myself from the “performing” list – and an option to double red star the show (to flag it to the reader’s attention) when it’s none performing along with an option to add “networking event” or “not performing” or “photo shoot” or “other appearance” or somethings to that effect.

I suggest this because there are events that we attend (me & my husband who is a producer) – conferences & other networking events – that I would like to show on my schedule so people will know I have plans but it may be HIS event which makes me just there rubbing elbows. Valuable because I get live shows that way where I do actually perform. Likewise, my husband goes to DJ Pools and video shoots for 3 days and other events that may have performances – just not him, so he can never add a show into his RN widget because he NEVER performs. For these events, if I have no show – I go with him but I still need to show it on my caledar, though because I’m not avaliable to do anything else during those dates. Also, if I am shown as non-performing on those dates perhaps the viewer who was thinking of offering a live show will offer one anyway – seeing how I am not taking stage at the noted event. Likewise, say I’m in St. Loius with my huband for a conference and my schedule shows me as “non performing” then perhaps promoters & venues in St. Louis will reach out with an offer to come to their venue live – knowing I’m in town but not performing. As of right now, I can’t add such events because I have no way (other than making a note that I found people did NOT read so I stopped adding such events). I tried doing the note thing and still had emails asking what time I went on stage…so I had to stop addding those events all together with simply a note. Same token, I have a photo shoot scheduled in Dallas – I’d like for the people in Dallas to know I’ll be there for 2 days…for the same reason as the St Louis example.

As a combination of the two requests above: Jumping back to the option of adding a date span feature, most of the conferences & festivals last for more than one day. So as it stands now, I’d have to add one event per entry with one specific date per enty which would show up listed as (say) March 8, March 9, March 10, March 11, March 12, & March 13 with me unremovable as a performer for each day…instead of showing on one line as one event that spans from March 8 thru March 13 where it’s flagged for attention that my attendance status will be “non-performing networking”. I’m sure you can see where the visuals of that might cause a few interpretation issues. Appearing to have shows on 6 different dates where I’m automatically showing as performing can upset someone who looks for my performance time at the venue’s official artist line up or someone who shows up on either of the 6 days expecting me on stage.

MANY thanks in advance – ‘cause this one is a biggie for me. We are always somewhere and I’m having to leave a lot of it off.

Street Team Suggestion:

I use RN exclusively for promo. From that fact comes this suggestion: a third (alternate) version of the fan collector widget WITHOUT the check box for street team would be SO great. I understand that the number of street teamers helps with BES, but I’ve found that lots of people check the box just because it’s there – & they kinda assume it’s necessary to check the box in order to get on the email list. I would prefer to offer the Street Team option to people after they sign up and I’ve sent out a few messages – and I’d offer it to the people with the highest percent emails opened, or those with low responses who’ve actually come to shows & so forth. I’d like to offer street team and have it sound like an elite club of hand selected fans as opposed to a box anyone can check and be classified as such. Since the option wouldn’t be offered to people who sit dormant on the email list, a better way to control signups would help more effeicient spread of the music. If I write a message offering a spot on the street team – if they don’t open the “Would you like to join the Street Team” email then I’d know that fan won’t be of much help in active spread of the music.

As a piggyback off this one, either in the “edit” or in the “tags” category info box that can be managed for each contact – an option of “add to street team” or “remove from street team” would be great. That way people who never attack missions can be put into the regular fans list just as easily as the tag can be changed.

All that to say, even if there are only 10 people on my street team, I’d much rather for there to be 10 people who will actually open the messages and do street team type activities than 270 who never bother. Thanks for considering this tweak & even more thanks if/when it’s implemented.

Could you please make a widget that displays our ranking. I’m climbing the charts and it would be cool to have a widget that I can post on my websites. Thank you!

Hey there, I was just browsing on the internet for music promotions etc, and it dawned on me i should come back to the forums on reverb. I love reverbnation. so far, it’s hands down the best site for artists. For an artist like me, just starting out, i’m grasping at straws as to what my focus plan should be. It would be great if reverbnation could facilitate the artist to management segment of our job more thoroughly. I would know, if you had reverb sponsored consultants, or marketing for hire (that had been screened by reverb), i would know they would be worth my time & money. I find the most active part is the fans & artists. There is much more room for development i think with the business side of it all. Just some thoughts i thought i would pass on. Thanks for all you do. Carrie Lux Divon http://www.reverbnation.com/luxdivon

i like the idea of the invite fan button. It can be quite hard tracking who i have and haven’t messaged, which either leads to people being messaged twice or not at all.

the “invite fan” button is a good idea. a suggestion is that once a band invites a user as a fan they shouldn’t be able to invite them again, the button should not be operative after they already invited them or make the button say invited… or something.

Could you PLEASE make the large show schedule widget that’s available to label profiles available to individual artists as well? The individual profile show widgets are too small and not neat enough.

Also, they need to look more like MySpace’s show schedule—orderly columns, customizable height.

I was just woundering if you can set up a way that we can widget any of the artists song, rather then just the one that they have on the top of the list, cause im interested in trying to help others get out there, but when someone listens to just 30 seconds of a song, and decide everything about the artist sometimes, like whether or not they want to hear something else by them While most artists have some really good stuff on the top of the list, it isnt necessarily their best work. or the best to try to get a bunch of people interested in a small time..

Another thing i was hoping for was some widgets for bebo while facebook and stuff is alright, I know alot of artists who are on bebo, but wont touch facebook and stuff.. cause its too “Preppy” I’m trying to get a bunch of them to join Reverb, but its hard, when the only things I can post are linkage (which most ignore) or tell them to go too my page, and look for my reverb app.. It would be much easier to just post a awsome tune, they like it, and follow it here… eh

I noticed that recently fan reach was modified so that we can edit our fans age name location…ect. I also think we should be able to clean house in the “UNAVAILABLE” section as far as deleting Invalid emails due to typos and misinformation. People enter weird emails into the fan collector widget and we are just stuck with them in our unavailable section I think that we should have control over every aspect of fan reach just the same as a normal email account. I think that if we want to delete all unavailable emails we should have that option.

And I also think that we should have an option to personalize the confirmation emails so that our recipients don’t mistakingly mark them as spam.

Just a little more control for the artist is all I am asking

BASICALLY MAKE FAN REACH THE SAME AS ANY OTHER EMAIL ACCOUNT

THANK YOU

you can have votes (only RN fan profiles can vote)

you can do a RN fan’s choice for most voted for unsigned artist

or have votes to give bands recognition for being “most creative” or “most talanted” etc.

This is a fairly minor suggestion but worth making. Navigation on the site is excellent except between forums and the main site. Could you make the forums more visible – this may encourage more fans and artists to use them and help to drum up activity, and can you either code the forum link to open in a new page/ tab or add a link at the top of the forum pages to return to the main site?

Hi, I have a suggestion, We are a duo/band and we use the same reverbnation account . However we both admin the reverb account. If it is possible, it would be awesome to have a “replied” note (similar to outlook and gmail’s that is in the right hand upper corner after you’ve sent a message) so you would know that that message has already been replied too. I’m aware of the “sent messages box” but sometimes you’ve sent so many messages, that it’s impossible to find out which page the “other sent message” might be on. Hopefully that makes sense. This way our fans can not be bombarded by too many “repeat” messages unnecessarily. Thanks! ReverbRocks! Carrie from Lux Divon

There was a survey sent to me a while ago which I filled out wiht ideas of improvement. I forgot one though. Under the “Plays” section you only have the possibility to see how much your songs have been played under time. I’d like to know how much they’ve been played on a day-to-day basis. That doesn’t mean I just want the last day, I’d like to choose one day in the last month for instance. But I’d rather have just the last day than nothing.

I was wondering if it might be possible to add an IRC style instant chat element to the site. Not only would it be something neat for fans to have discussions on their favorite artists, but It could also help make collaborations between different bands from different places much easier and in some cases, actually possible.

One smaller comment before I go get some sleep: In the “general” tab, I entered some text in multiple paragraphs. At first I just tried to use blank lines to separate paragraphs, but that didn’t work, so I tried P tags, which did work… but there was no whitespace between paragraphs, which made them hard to read. I made up for it with BR tags, but it’d improve legibility if paragraphs in this section were separated by default.

I’m having a fair amount of trouble with the blog/buzz tab. I saw the earlier message about setting blog preferences, so I tried pointing it at my band’s MySpace blog (it’s not good, but we’ve got some content there, which is better right now than nothing). The blog tab just came back blank. If I view it from a “normal user” perspective, it says “Error processing feed”.

Come to think of it, I bet I know what the error is. But okay, I set the option that says “I don’t want to show a blog on this page,” but that doesn’t work either. Normal users still see a blog area and an error message.

Meanwhile, the buzz tab content shows up only sporadically for me as an artist. And when it does display, I can’t figure out how to view the content—clicking on those subject lines doesn’t do anything. I have to go into another browser, visit the profile as a normal user, view the content from there, and then go back to my “artist browser” to hide the stuff I don’t want. (I’m using Opera at the moment as an artist. This may be better on other browsers.) Anyway, I was able to get the job done, but it was kind of frustrating.

If they have agreements or the rights to be a cover band, they are allowed to post music. If you know of any copyright infringements, you can report them to abuse@reverbnation.com. While we may not agree with every song that is posted on our site, or every band’s theme, genre choices, or lyrics, we do agree that they have a right to have a forum to promote themselves.

Here’s a suggestion…

You should kick tribute/cover bands off of this site. I think for the most part, the artists on this site are here to make their mark with their individual voice. Cover/tribute bands don’t do that. As a sign of respect to true artists, you should keep this site purified from the cover/tribute stuff.
