Topic: Site Related Topics / FanReach (including Fan Collector widget)
Ok, the screenshot helps. Basically, if I understand your problem, you entered an invalid email address for YOUR address, right? Have you tried going into your account and changing/correcting all the email addresses on your Artist Information page? I’m not completely sure if that changes the FanReach email or not. But it’s worth a try. I’ll see if I can recreate the problem on my account here in a bit when I have some more time. Michael |

Topic: Site Related Topics / Musical Whores Here Have patience. I’ve made many suggestions for improvements to the forums. I’ll add “remove HTML” to the list. There is time and effort required to make those kinds of changes. And right now, they are primarily focused on providing us with kick-ass features. If you feel the need to just talk to other musicians about whatever is on your mind, I’d recommend the Harmony Central Forums. I’m out there as well. Good luck, Michael |

Topic: Site Related Topics / Suggestion Box
This is a site for musicians. It’s not specific to original music. However, as Mr. Admin states, you have to have rights to a song to publish it here. Rights to publish previously recorded songs are available through agencies like the Harry Fox Agency. So the bands you are talking about may have those rights. Do you have any specific examples? |

Topic: Site Related Topics / flashing line on side of player Also, you can upload the screenshot somewhere on the web (Flickr or DivShare) and then post a link here. That will work. Have you tried installing the latest version of Flash as Mr. Admin suggested? |

Topic: Site Related Topics / Suggestion Box Ditto on the forum cleanup. I could setup SMF for you in about 15 minutes. But I digress, again. I’ve got two new requests. Both of these are pretty important. First, genres should be set at the song level, not the band level. If I’m a blues band but I record a rock song, it shouldn’t show up in the blues charts and vice versa. Second, I’ve got some complaints from people who clicked on a TunePak url that I emailed. They weren’t happy that it resized their browser. I noticed this myself and thought t was just an issue with Firefox. But it appears to happen on IE as well. |

Topic: Site Related Topics / Suggestion Box Sounds good. Thanks for the tip on the single song thing. Can’t wait to start interviewing some of the local cats in the scene. That should drive a LOT of traffic to my blog (and to my ReverbNation blog widgets.) Thanks, |

Topic: Site Related Topics / Suggestion Box Ok, I have two suggestions. First let me get to the important one. Admin, I love the site. I’m an active promoter of the site on Harmony Central. And I’m spending a lot of time trying to think of ways to get more people to my ReverbNation page. Well, I came up with a great idea. I’ve started blogging about music in my town. And I’m using the blogging widgets to expose people to my music. So far so good. Ok, but I’d like to take it a step further and actually do some podcasting in my blog. And, I’d like to use ReverbNation to host the audio and drive MORE traffic here. Everything you’ve got here already will work. I just need one thing. I need a widget that will only play a single song. That way, I can upload multiple entries into my podcast reverbnation page and then put individual songs/segments/pieces in my blog using a widget with the entry for that blog. Simple and effective. Second, I’d like to suggest that someone delete the spam from these forums. I suggested using a free forum software like SMS in the past. The open source stuff out there is very robust and will automatically handle some of the spam issues for you. Plus it’s much more user friendly. Just a thought. |

Topic: Site Related Topics / Suppport for Wordpress? I got this reply from their technical support: “Hi Michael, Things usually get added to WordPress.com when there is enough demand or enough usage on self-hosted WordPress blogs to show the need for it.” I guess the only thing to do is to email Nick directly at: nick @ wordpress.com Maybe if he gets enough requests they’ll get around to adding it. But based on the amount of traffic here in the forums, I’m going to guess that isn’t going to happen. Michael |

Topic: Site Related Topics / Suppport for Wordpress? Ok, I found out a little more about the problem. Apparently WordPress disables Flash. Here’s more info: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/can-i-add-flash-video-embed-other-media/ I guess our only hope is if ReverbNation can get on their list of approved Flash sites. Michael |

Topic: Site Related Topics / Suppport for Wordpress? I’m also using the web version of Word Press. I’ve switched over from Blogger for the improved blogging that Word Press gives you. But I still can’t get my widgets to appear. If anyone gets this resolved, please post it here. |

Topic: Site Related Topics / Suggestion Box Ok, two suggestions. First, I love the Browse Music and Artists feature. I was checking out some of the bands in my area. It would be really useful at this point if you could sort the list by number of fans or current location on the charts or something. It’s hit or miss trying to find good music. This would make this a much more effective resource for finding good local music. Second, I have to agree with the other guy about the forum. I realize it works and meets your basic needs. But I come out here every 6 months or so and it’s a virtual ghost town out here. That’s a shame. Your forums should drive your site. There are lots of open source FREE bbs tools out there that you can use. Sure, it takes time to brand them to your look and feel. But I don’t think anybody really cares about that. Take a look at the forums on Harmony Central to see what I’m taking about: http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/index.php The open source tool I’d recommend is: http://www.simplemachines.org/ It’s free. It’s very flexible and easy to maintain. I’ve setup two of these forums myself, one for my band and another for another side project. Simple and easy. |

Topic: Site Related Topics / Promotional Ideas I did a review of another band’s CD and posted it on my website. Then, I sent the band my review and asked them to spread the word. I have the ReverbNation widgets on my webpage, and voila … more visits. |
