SHOWS Widget:

Overall, it’s a MARVELOUS tool. So I’m not mentioning a glitch or anything – more of a functionaly limit. Wondering if anyone is/will tweak the SHOWS gadgetry – perhaps easing it towards being a SCHEDULE tab instead of shows?? Not everyone has shows – but still must travel. I,E.: my husband has a RN account – but he is a producer. Schedule is still tight, though because he goes to DJ Pools and video shoots – but he NEVER performs. Likewise, for lots of his events I go with him – but I’m not performing. So I might be unavalable for 3 days but I can’t add into the shows widget although I still need to show it on my calendar because I’m not really avaliable to do anything else during those dates.

First notion: It would be sooooooooo great have to option to REMOVE myself from the “performing” list – and an option to double red star the show (to flag it to the reader’s attention) when it’s none performing along with an option to add “networking event” or “not performing” or “photo shoot” or “other appearance” or “in station radio interview” – or perhaps an “add tag” feature similar to the email here. The alternative is to only add performing events & then all is well – but I’m doing heavy conferences right now & I was invited to two awards shows at which I didn’t perform – but I was waaaaaay far away from home so those things are just as much part of my away schedule.

Notion two: Reverb Press Kit pulls over performance information…when I did the sample one, it had no way of knowing that I didn’t perform at something that had been added to my SHOWS list. So it erroneously says I’ve performed here or there with this person or that – when really I was in attendance but backstage or invited for other reasons. The last thing I need is to send out an RPK to a promoter and it claims I’ve performed at X event when I didn’t. They don’t know it’s a system limitation – they’ll just think I am a liar so I can’t (won’t) subscribe to the Reverb Press Kit service until the system can make some kinda differentation between “performing” and “appearing”.

Notion Three: It would be great (& feasible) to have the option to add repeating events when adding a show – or a “duplicate event” function where a new event is created and everything is there with the date adjustable. For instance, I have a couple of shows that run either weekly or biweekly. Right now, only one date can be chosen when adding a show – and since there’s no duplicate event option, it makes for a task to keep the shows current.

Similar yet-diferent from the above: a date span sort of feature is needed. As it stands now, I’d have to add one event per entry with one specific date per enty which would show up listed as (say) March 8, March 9, March 10, March 11, March 12, & March 13 with me unremovable as a performer for each day…so it looks like I’m performing 6 times (instead of 1 or 0). This is opposed to showing on one line as one event that spans from March 8 thru March 13 where my status is “non-performing”. I’m sure you can see where the visuals of that might cause a few interpretation issues. Appearing to have shows on 6 different dates where I’m automatically showing as performing could upset someone

Notion Five and this is almost cosmetic, but if anyone ever starts working on the above perhaps they can throw this in: it would be NICE if the default view could set to be the travel map instead of automatically showing the list first.

MANY thanks in advance – ‘cause I REALLY love the calendar more than any other I’ve come across but the above has actually forced me not to use it at all – & to not use the RPK on which I was waiting to go live.

Sorry you are having a problem with your widget. I’ve done some quick testing and I’ve not been met with the same problem, although I’m on a PC. If you continue to have this problem, please email: support@reverbnation.com so that they can do some more in depth testing.

I’m having a problem with the blog-sized music player embedded into my website (www.silver-sound.com) when attempting to play songs when using Firefox (I’m running Mac OSX) – the band image appears to try to reload several times in quick succession, but the music won’t play. Not a problem with other browser I’ve tried it on (Safari) Any ideas?

Chaliss: To delete an old widget, you will have to remove the code for it. On Myspace you can do this by clicking the Edit Profile button and then finding the section of your page with the code. Highlight the code for the widget you wish to remove and click delete. Then click the Save Changes button at the top of the page to make the changes permanent.

Odd glitch I’ve noticed happening on blog sized music player at the moment…

Where the artist name appears at the top of the widget, the html bold code is appearing as code rather than actual bolding. This happens on widgets I’ve already embedded on various sites and also shows up if I go into the widgets panel at Reverbnation to create a new one.

I haven’t had a chance to check if this is happening with other widgets yet.

All my music players, except the tune widget, do not show my data or play my music. This has been a problem only with my profile, i check on other peoples’ widgets and they seem to work, again my tunewidget works fine but when i try to pick up another music player, it won’t show any info (no pics, music or track listings), except my name on the top. Visit my profile and see what I mean. MayaMatics

I noticed this week that my widgets does not fully load on my myspace. I’ve also gotten some emails that say they either could not find my music player or they were having loading problems.

This along with the fact my band equity score dropped is not good. Are you having issues with the player?

ok here is a new one. i am making my own widgets, but have encountered a problem turning a youtube video into a widget. maybe i just shouldnt be doing this. but i would like to keep track of who is watching the videos i post. the problem that occurs is that when i turn a youtube video into a widget, it either a)will not play or b)will play the video but not the audio. anyone else have this problem? should i just not turn youtube videos into widgets? is there a fix? im including a sample widget so you can see what i mean… thanks! :)

Incompatibility: Player widget does not play on my browser when posted on wordpress or myspace blog. My setup: MacOs X / Firefox 3. On my PC with Firefox 2 all is good.

Also i noticed there is a daily downtime which occurs at the middle of the day here in germany. This is a bit of a problem for me. Otherwise your service rocks.

Check the Snocap code in your STORELINK and make sure it is the link and not the embed code. It shouldn’t have any embed tags or anything like that.

Hi Aaronaustin, I am asking for additional improvements to the RSS feed.. and in addition an iCal format to feed Google… but for now we have used feedburner.com to translate the RSS feed to HTML and format it on our shows page. Take a look at

Is there any way to get an rss feed from RN for the show schedule so that I can make it work with my website design? The widgets work great for facebook, myspace, etc., but it doesn’t look good at all on my site. I’d love to be able to update my shows just once with RN. Also, as mentioned above, it would be nice to have a transparency option on all of the widgets. Thanks.

Hi I have a question, I recently added the “my band” reverbnation application to my facebook band page. On the widget i put on facebook when i click on the $ sign next to the song title to buy music it says snocap code not found, however ive already set up a snocap account and the link appears on my reverbnation page and seems to work fine. Why is this?

first of all excuse me if i am missing the obvious, this is one of those i thought was easy but just cant figure out. on the music player, the ‘buy music’ button links to a pop up window, i remember being able to enter code there (the code i entered is for a service im not using at the moment) so i want to change the code there. but in looking at the admin/tools the only thing i am seeing is the storelink page. now when i do click the ‘buy music’ button on the player, the little page that opens with the old code does have an ‘edit’ link in the upper right hand corner, but this seems to be a dead link. not sure what im doing
